Evangelism & Outreach

First Congregational United Church of Christ, Huntington, is committed to Evangelism and Outreach, and the sharing of our faith.  First Church is a proud participant in the Still Speaking campaign through the United Church of Christ.  In response to the Still Speaking Campaign through the Wider Church, First Congregational UCC, created an Evangelism and Outreach Team which oversees the various outreach ministries of our local congregation.

Led by Justin Murdock, the church focuses on spreading the Good News of a “Boldly Christian, Proudly Progressive” congregation, and it’s “Extravagant Welcome” message.  First Church utilizes various avenue’s which encourages member’s to share their faith.

The Evangelism and Outreach Team sponsors activities where the church can set up an information booth in different venue’s which exposes the general public to First Church and its ministries, beliefs, and presence.

As First Church continues to grow and reach out to the community and region, it seeks to take advantage of every opportunity to spread the word of Gods “radical” acceptance of ALL people.  First Church believes itself to be the beacon of light in a dark world of rejection, discrimination, and judgment.  The core value and mission of the Evangelism and Outreach Team is to make public the message, “Regardless of who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, YOU are welcome here.”

Outreach activities in 2011 included tabling at the Huntington Pride Picnic, and Rainbow Pride WV’s Pride Parade in Charleston, the West Virginia Hot Dog Festival, the annual Huntington AIDS Walk, the Huntington Christmas Parade, and the Ironton Memorial Day Parade.
