Mission 1
Mission 1 was created by the United Church of Christ is 2011. Between 1/1/11 and 1/11/11 the United Church of Christ set national goals of collecting over 1,000,000 items of healthy food, collecting $222,222 for Neighbors in Need and East African Famine Disaster Relief, and to send 11,111 letters to US Senators and Congresspersons regarding food and nutrition issues.
First Congregational answered this call and created some lofty goals. 5,555 items of food, 111 letters, and 55 monetary donations. Through a door-to-door food drive, street-side food and donation drive, and partnering with local businesses and service organizations we were able to meet all of our goals.

Final Mission 1 tallies:

141/111 letters written
67/55 monetary donations
The food donations were split between Cridlin Food Pantry, Barnett Center Healthy Food Pantry, and Tri-State AIDS Task Force.
